Every now and then, a batch turns up that feels different.
Not because it’s flashy.
Not because it’s rare.
But because the structure makes you stop and look twice.
That’s exactly what happened with these Kanno Tosai Chagoi.
Why This Batch Matters
Last year, Kanno introduced a Sakai-influenced Chagoi line into his breeding programme — genetics that trace back to the well-known “Mango” bloodline.
Those fish are famous for one thing:
Frame.
Massive heads. Thick bone. Power through the body.
This year’s Tosai come from that influence, crossed with a large Ginrin Soragoi male from Marusei — another strong Muji Mono bloodline.
In simple terms:
Big genetics paired with big genetics.
And you can already see it in the body shape.
These Tosai are currently 18–22cm, with:
- Broad, strong heads
- Proper shoulder height
- Thick peduncles
- Excellent overall balance
There are also three distinct tone variations in the batch, plus a handful of Ginrin examples.
Expected Development
Based on structure and bloodline, these are built to grow.
We’re anticipating around 8–10cm development through the grow period, which could see many pushing toward the high 20s / low 30s cm range.
The real attraction here isn’t colour.
It’s foundation.
